Dear Parents and Guardians,
Happy October! I cannot believe we are approaching the end of the 1st 9 weeks! We have had an exciting beginning of the year. I hope you know how much I enjoy your students each and every day. I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and partnership this school year. October is a busy and exciting month for our school community, filled with many learning opportunities, events, and celebrations.
HAC: Home Access Center
Recently we sent instructions to parents who had not set up a HAC- Home Access Account. We encourage you to stay engaged with your child's learning by checking in regularly, reviewing their progress in HAC, and communicating with their teachers whenever necessary.
You should have already received instructions from lhdatawolves.net to be able to log into HAC and reset your passwords if needed. If you need assistance please reach out to our registrar, Jessica Paulsen by calling the school or emailing her at jessica.paulsen@lhwolves.net.
October 11th Wolf Time Games
We are excited to partner with our PTO in bringing back Wolf Time Games! We have been reviewing the criteria for students to earn participation in this fun event! Wolf Time Games is a previous tradition here at LHMS that serves as a positive reinforcement or incentive to encourage students to meet our school wide expectations. We will have a carnival style set up outside on our turf where students can play games, win prizes, and enjoy treats.
Students must earn all items on the checklist in order to participate in Wolf Time Games. The checklist will start over each nine weeks. Here is the criteria:
· 2 or less unexcused absences & 2 or less tardies per nine weeks
· Binder/supplies/backpack is organized
· At or above grade level (C or above) in all 8 periods
· No major office referrals
The criteria deadline is Tuesday, October 8th. Please make sure you have turned in any excuses for attendance so that our records are current for that deadline. I also encourage you to log into HAC and review grades with your child before that deadline.
Attendance:
As a reminder, it is extremely important for students to be in attendance each day. Absences without appropriate documentation or those exceeding the 3 allowed parent notes will be considered “unexcused.”
We understand that there are circumstances where students must be absent.
If a student is absent due to a medical appointment he/she should submit documentation upon the student’s return to school in order for the absence to be marked as excused.
Acceptable excuses include:
· 3 parent notes
· Notes for:
o medical appointments
o death or serious illness in immediate family
o appointment with a government agency
o exceptional circumstances with prior approval of the principal
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Additionally, I want to remind you about upcoming parent-teacher conferences. Parent-teacher conferences will be held October 15th and October 17th from 3:30-6:30 pm both days. These conferences are drop in so appointments are not required. You will receive your child's progress report and be able to meet with teachers in their classrooms.
As always, please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have. I appreciate your continued support. Thank you for entrusting us with your child.
Katelyn Walker,
LHMS Principal
